It is time to get a back in a yoga rhythm and today is the perfect day for it! I only have two midterms left and I don't have to study for one (for the class I TA for I only have to fill out an evaluative form). So, today I will start the thirty day yoga challenge where I will do yoga once a day for at least twenty minutes until November 21st. Just in time for Thanksgiving!
Well there. I've put my goal in writing. Now I have to follow through =)
Also, is anyone else sickened by the US presidential debates/campaigns in general? Sickened to the point that I just want to turn the television off and wake up after November 6th. But, I did not and I will not fall asleep. I stayed fixated on the argument (let's not call it a debate... debates are intelligent- not merely witty or the stuff from which memes are made) through the bickering, interrupting, and blaming the "other."

... some good articles I read up on after the debate...
Facts Got Twisted Again In Last Debate
http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2012/10/22/163442153/facts-got-bent-again-in-last-debate
It is frustrating that the focus is on blame and pointing fingers instead of offering one's own solutions... when I vote, it will be for the candidate who has feasible policies, maintains a focus on helping humans (no matter their pocketbooks), and has the most dignity even in the face of slander and smear campaigns. Green Party, here I come......................... both major party candidates are focusing "information" and manipulating facts to cast the other candidate in a terrible light. Come on, Obama, I had hope for you...
Debate Takeaway: Little Daylight Between Obama, Romney
This was my favorite article I read. Hits a lot of points I agree with. In addition to what this article details, I wish foreign aid would have been addressed too... I hope to see more issues presented in the third party candidate debate tonight! I am so excited: we shall see about how these candidates hold themselves and follow through on what their party platforms say.
US candidates spar over foreign policy
Spar is a good word here........ It is difficult to take the candidates seriously when they talk about war that is supposed to restore peace/dominance/US as the hegemon... War alienates countries and makes our country weak economically and with our rapport in intergovernmental organizations... I wanted to hear more about actual foreign policy instead of the size of our military and the comments about the economy (enough already, you had two debates for that...).
Obama and Romney in final push

More of the same... talking about the attitudes and strategies brought to the debate instead of the actual issues.
If I could somehow advise the candidates I would say this: have respect for one another as people. You have both arrived at this point in time through your hard work, you have gained the respect (AND VOTE) of about half of the US... that has to count for something. Instead of laying blame, focus on your own attributes, ideologies, goals, and successes. Come up with feasible plans and stick to them. Believe enough in your party's plan that you do not have to slander the other party... Help the constituents understand why you are running for office and why you would be the best person as one of the most powerful people in the world.
Can you tell I am an idealist? Sadly, I do not believe my ideas are how elections are won in light of culture. Our culture does not promote truth and respect, rather mockery and the "winner." Furthermore, is anybody's opinion actually changed from these debates? I wonder what the statistic is on on-the-fence voters on those who are actually waiting til the last minute to vote. My guess is they have made up their mind a while ago (as in, if they had voted one month ago, today, and November 6th, the on-the-fence voters would probably vote for the same candidate each time).
Enough political griping for now =)
happy tuesday. love. and peace.
